Reiki Healing 11

It is well studied every symptom has a structural, chemical and emotional component. More and more double-blind case studies are being done that show that Reiki has verifiable results and it is now being used in hospitals around the world including Columbia Presbyterian, NYU, and Yale University Hospital. Dr. Mehmet Oz permits Reiki in his O.R. during open heart surgery. The US Army is spending $4,000,000 to research traumatic "biofield energy" for post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD).

So, what is Reiki? Reiki is a simple method of hands-on healing developed by Mikao Usui, a monk from Kyoto, Japan. He understood our body is composed not only of physical elements such as muscles, bones, nerves, arteries, organs, glands, etc.; it also has a subtle energy system through which 'life force energy' flows. This subtle energy system is composed of energy 'bodies' which surrounds our physical body and assist us in processing our thoughts and emotions. Reiki healing is a technique for harnessing then transmitting this subtle energy through the practitioner's hands and into the cells of the person being treated.

What does it do? The energy helps the body release stress, tension, and pain by restoring balance and harmony on the physical, emotional, and spiritual planes. The American Institute of Stress estimates that 75%-95% of all visits to doctors are the results of reaction to stress. The effects of unreleased stress range from minor aches to major health concerns, such as heart disease, digestive disorders, respiratory and skin problems.

What should I expect? Reiki is gentle, nurturing yet powerful. A treatment feels like warm, gentle sunshine which flows through you, surrounds you and comforts you. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation. Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of Reiki treatment, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.
